LATEST NEWS:
17/09/11 -
It is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of this years Exmoor Endurance Rally. We have 26 entries as of today. We are very determined to run the event next year. As competitors I think that you are entitled to a full explanation of our decision, and we will provide this to you next week. As some people may be aware our entries secretary is away, so while we have full account of the number of entries we do not have a complete e mail list. So we apologise to the few of you who do not receive this message directly from us. We would like to thank all of you who have supported us and we share your disappointment. Regards Martin

Dear Competitor,
It is now just over 3 weeks to go until the running of the Exmoor rally.
As an organising team we are now faced with some tough decisions as deadlines loom for sending material to print and payments to relevant bodies. Entries as of today stand at 13, our Regs state that we need 40 cars to run the event (the point at which the clubs will break even). We have, however, decided that we will run with 35 cars (and accept the loss as clubs) BUT we only have until FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER to reach this target of 35 cars.
So we are asking you – if you are planning to enter the event please do so before next Friday 16th September when the irrevocable decision will be made as to whether to run or not. If you are now thinking there is no point in entering as it won’t run then it will become a self fulfilling prophecy!
The Regs state that if the event is cancelled people will get a full refund so you will lose nothing by entering (except the cost of a stamp) but possibly lose the event if you don’t! Regs are available at http://www.exmoorendurancerally.com/
We are very proud of the Exmoor Endurance Rally and the quality of the event that the forests and roads on Exmoor give us; having put a lot of effort in over the last 3 years we are very keen for this not to be in vain – for both you the competitor and for us as organisers.
If you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to contact me or Georgina on 01454 413231 or 07880 736798.
Regards, Martin Clark

Entries begin to flow...
The first 10 entries for this years Exmoor Endurance Rally have been confirmed by the entries secretary. Simon Ayris and Alan Smith in their Vauxhall Astra were the first competitors to get their entry in, closely followed by Paul Tod and Simon Harris in their Suzuki Swift. Arguably, two of the favourites for the event win and previous winners are enterted in their trusty Rover 214, Jamie and Mike Turner along with Owen Turner and Andrew Dadswell who are bringing their Rover Metro to the Exmoor Selectif's for the first time rather than their Rover 214.
Further entries have appeared from:
David Loob - Vauxhall Nova, Simon Stanbury and Matthew Hills - Peugeot 205, Gareth Andrews and Lucas Redwood - Proton Compact, Steve Conner and Mark Milton - Peugeot 205 Rallye, David Smith and Richard Tappin - Peugeot 205.
With only 3 weeks to go until the event, organisers are asking that all interested competitors get their entries sent in as soon as possible.
Why compete on the Exmoor Enduro Rally?
- New start and finish venue at Holida Inn, Taunton.
- 80+ miles of top quality forest tracks and private land selectifs.
- Porlock hill toll road (downhill!)
- Competitive night section mixed with selectifs.
- Entry fee only £295!
Come and join the fun!

News about the 2011 Exmoor Endurance Rally...
The Exmoor organising committee remains intact after the 2010 event and have decided that the Exmoor should evolve for 2011.
In the first two years of running the event has achieved an enviable reputation for the quality of both the tests and the night road section and we will not sacrifice these aspects.
However some aspects of the event (i.e. the finish venue) have received adverse comments from competitors; as you are the reason we run the rally we have tried to take these on board with our changes.
In order to improve the event we have therefore made a few tweaks that we think will reduce the overall cost of the weekend to the competitor and improve everyone’s enjoyment, while not removing the ENDURANCE nature of the event. The revised format is therefore as follows:
Start and finish will be at The Holiday Inn, Taunton, just 2 minutes from Junction 25 on the M5. The first car will leave at 11.00. Lunch and supper halts will be at the excellent Raleghs Cross, with the finish back at the Holiday Inn Taunton at 23.30. The bar at the hotel will stay open to residents as long as we want (and without having to wait for the locals to be chucked out as last year!!). We have negioated a special rate of £75 per double/twin room per night for the night of Friday September 30th and/or Saturday October 2nd.
We have a total of 80+ miles of top quality tests on Forestry Commission and Crown Estates land and not forgetting the famous Porlock Hill, which this year will be used downhill in the dark!
There will not be a traditional 150 mile night road rally as in previous years; instead the night section will consist of a mix of selectives and short road sections. Marked Maps will be issued to all. Don’t worry if you think that we’ve gone too soft, as the road sections that have been selected will present a real challenge for the drivers while keeping the navigation straight forward for the less expert. The last road section will finish 4 miles from the finish so the incredibly compact nature of the event will be maintained.

28/03/2011 - Exmoor Enduro returns for more fun in Somerset…
The third running of the Exmoor Endurance Rally has begun to be organised by the events main officials and is set to run on 1st - 2nd October 2011. This popular event is run as one of the rounds of the Endurance Road Rally Championship which caters for cars up to and including 1400cc with limited modifications, making the sport relatively cheap.
This popular round of the championship was won last year by Owen Turner/Andrew Dadswell in their Rover 200 who hope to return to the event in 2011 to be challenged by many other quick crews who are capable of taking the spoils.
The organising team are looking forward to announcing some changes to this years rally format which should see better value for money for the competing crews and open the event up to all capabilities of driver and navigator.
The organising team will issue more information about the event in the coming months but first look forward to the running of their main stage rally event, Somerset Stages Rally, which takes place on Saturday 16th April.
